Lahore:Parliamentary Secretary Health Punjab, Dr. Saeed Elahi has said that defeating polio is utmost necessary for establishing healthy society as well as development and progress of the country. He said that curbing polio from the country is our national as well as international obligation.
This was stated by him while inaugurating anti-polio campaign at Children Hospital by administering polio vaccine to the children. Representative of World Health Organization Dr. Debra Bettle, Governor of Rotary Club Anthony Richard, Saleem Khan, Additional Medical Superintendent Children Hospital Dr. Jawad and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Dr. Saeed Elahi said that polio disease exists only in three countries including Afghanistan, Nageria and Pakistan. He said that existence of polio in Pakistan though has so many reasons but, however, it is a matter of great concern for us. Dr. Saeed Elahi said that thousands of people deprived of administering polio vaccine in the terrorist-hit areas. He said that all segments of society including ulema, teachers, parents, civil society and influential people should have to play their due role for eradication of polio from the country. He said that it is our responsibility to motivate those parents who refuse to administer polio vaccine to their children. He appealed the parents to administer polio vaccine to their children during 3-day anti-polio campaign so that Pakistan could be made polio-free country.
