Lahore:Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that all arrangements have been made for coping with the situation arising due to possible flood and monsoon rains. Punjab Chief Minister is himself monitoring the protective spurs affected during the previous flood throughout the province especially in Southern Punjab. He said that protective spurs including Fakhar Flood Bund in District Rajanpur were constructed with millions of rupees to safeguard the area.
He said this while inspecting the protective spurs of District Rajanpur, today. He said that special attention is being paid to the areas which were badly affected during the last flood and spurs are being strengthened with the cooperation of local people and irrigation department. He directed the officers of local administration and other departments to work with missionary zeal and further improve the system of mutual coordination. Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that the Chief Minister has expressed his determination that the people will not be left alone in case of any emergency and the PML-N government will provide all possible help in every hour of trial.
While giving briefing, Chief Engineer Irrigation Abdul Majeed Bhatti said that Fakhar Spur has been constructed at a cost of Rs.92.85 lakh as a second defence line to control the erosion of flood. He informed that special duties have been assigned to the officers and officials of Irrigation and Revenue Departments. The DCO also gave a detailed briefing regarding arrangements in case of expected flood. Former Chief Minister and MPA Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, MPA Sher Ali Gorchani, Commissioner D.G. Khan Tariq Mahmood Khan, Secretary Irrigation Ch. Khalid Masood, Director General P.D.M.A. Mujahid Sher Dil, DCO Ghazi Aman Ullah Khan and senior officers of Irrigation Department were also present on the occasion.
