Lahore:The high-level Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been directed to expand the scope of investigations and utilize all available resources to hunt down the terrorists involved in the gun attack on prison policemen in Lahore. The investigation team has also been directed to step up investigations into the terror attack by keeping in view the similar terror attacks at Babu Sabu interchange and army base in Gujrat. The police have been directed to remain on high-alert round-the-clock in order to avoid any further untoward incident.
This was stated by IGP Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing an urgent and high-level meeting held at the office of the District Police Officer in Gujrat today. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala Capt (retd) Amin Vains, CPO Gujranwala Kamran Yousaf and all the district police officers attended the meeting.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman is personally monitoring the progress into the investigations of the terror attacks. In this regard, the provincial police chief visited Gujrat district today.
Addressing the meeting, the police chief said that all the security and law enforcing agencies must play their active role in eradicating the menace of terrorism from the society. The IGP also said that in order to provide protection to the life and property of the citizens, the officers must implement preventive policing strategy in the province.
On this occasion, the stressed upon the Regional Police Officers (RPOs) to ensure proper and effective armed patrolling around all government installations, important buildings, religious places, parks, public place, bazaars, and commercial markets.
The IGP informed the meeting that overall security plan would be reorganized and updated after in-depth review during the Provincial Peace Conference to be held in Lahore next week.
