Lahore:Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain has appointed Syed Qasim Shah as Pakistan Muslim League Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah Provincial President. Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed has issued the notification in this regard. Syed Qasim Shah is the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and a senior parliamentarian. He was a Federal Minister in Muhammad Khan Junejo’s Govt. and is also former MNA and MPA.
He got his early education from Balakot whereafter he joined Islamia College Peshawar for higher studies. His interest in the welfare of the people of his area motivated him to come into active politics in 1977 when he opted for local bodies. He was elected Chairman of the District Council Mansehra and worked day and night for the development of his area.
Syed Qasim Shah is very popular among the people of his area and represented them both at the Provincial as well as the National Assembly levels. He held important portfolios like that of the Ministries of Environment and Urban Affairs, Tourism, States and Frontier Regions, SAFRON, Kashmir Affairs and Religious Affairs in the Federal Cabinet as well as that of Local Government and Rural Development in the NWFP Provincial Government.
Ch Shujat Hussain has expressed the confidence that nomination of Syed Qasim Shah would become more effective, active and strong for party in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah.
