Lahore:Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said that Sheikh Zayed Hospital will be further expanded and a 300-beded new block will be constructed. He said that capacity of liver transplantation ward is being increased for which provincial government is providing Rs. 16 crore.
He disclosed this while presiding over a meeting during his visit to Sheikh Zayed Hospital, here today. Secretary Health Punjab Capt. Arif Nadeem, Chairman of Hospital Prof. Zafar Iqbal, Additional Secretary Health Development Moazam Usman, Prof. Nauman and other officers attended the meeting. The meeting also considered all needs for the establishment of proposed Hijvari Institute of Organ Transplant and also discussed in detail its technical aspects. Khawaja Salman Rafiq said that liver transplantation ward in Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore is being expanded and hoped that due to its expansion, the target of one liver transplant in a week will be achieved. He disclosed that keeping in view the increasing medical needs, a 300-beded new block will be constructed in Sheikh Zayed Hospital and all wards of medical and surgical will be available in new block where modern treatment facilities would be provided. Earlier, Khawaja Salman Rafiq along with Secretary Health visited various wards of the hospital and reviewed the treatment facilities being provided to the patients. Khawaja Salman Rafiq expressed his determination that provincial government will run Sheikh Zayed Hospital in a more efficient manner.
