Pakistan has immense talent in squash:Aamir Waheed

Rawalpindi:President of Divisional Squash Association Rawalpindi Aamir Waheed has said the past glory of Pakistan in squash is achievable again as the immense talent is in the line to be explored and polished in the country.
He was talking to the journalists after the qualifying round of National Junior Squash Championship 2012 which has set on track in Rawalpindi on June 21st, 2012. He said with an aim to explore the talent like World Cahmpions of Squash like Jehangir Khan and Jan Sher Khan, the National Junior Squash Championship 2012 has been started in which, some 200 players from all over the country in five categories are participating.
Aamir Waheed told the reporters that the players would be grouped in five categories i.e. under 11, under 13, under 15, under 17, and under 19. “ Under 11 and under 13 matches will be played in squash courts in Shalimar Club while the players of the rest of the groups shall show their talent in Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Squash Courts in Sports Complex Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi”, he added.
He said in qualifying round matches 78 players from all the categories had qualified for main rounds to be played from today ( June 22nd). “Qualifying round matches were played in Shalimar Club Rawalpindi on Thursday”, he told. He said the Quarter final, semi final and final matches would be played on 23, 24 and 25 June respectively. Aamir Waheed further told the winner would be awarded with Rs. 0.3 million cash prizes.
Title sponsor Ch. Danial Tanveer while talking with reporters on this occasion said there is a lot of talent in the country and the only work to be done is the encouragement of the players to show their aptitude and talent. He said the world champion Jehangir Khan and his great father Roshan Khan were the residents of Rawalpindi. “If we want to explore the talent like Jehangir Khan and Jan Sher Khan, we will have to establish facilities of international standard where our new talent could be groomed to regain the past glory of squash”, he mentioned.

. RDSA secretary Ch. Naeem Anwar, VP of Zonal Squash Qazi Nadeem, Secretary Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Squash Complex Rawalpindi Ch. Zaheer Iqbal and other office bearers of squash bodies were also present on this occasion.
