Lahore:Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has accepted the request of Members Provincial Assembly Rawalpindi for waiving outstanding tax on the owners of five marla houses before 2004. Members Provincial Assembly belonging to Rawalpindi Raja Hanif Advocate, Ziaullah Shah, Mailk Ghulam Raza and Shaukat Aziz Bhatti called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in his chamber in Punjab Assembly and requested to waive off arrears of outstanding property tax before 2004 against the owners of houses of five marla throughout the province.
The Assembly Members informed that on their request, the Chief Minister directed Secretary Excise &Taxation to immediately stop recovery of outstanding tax on five marla houses before 2004 and ordered abolishment of all outstanding property tax before 2004. Due to this decision of Chief Minister, outstanding tax of Rs.12 crore of before 2004 on the owners of five marla houses in Rawalpindi while Rs.60 crore throughout the province will be waived. They said that this decision will benefit low income owners of five marla houses. It may be mentioned that Excise &Taxation department had launched a special campaign for the recovery of the arrears and also sealed some houses in Rawalpindi.
