He was presiding over a meeting at Minar-Pakistan tent office, here today. Senator Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah, Assembly Members, Chief Secretary, Secretary Home, Inspector General Police, Commissioner and District Coordination Officer Lahore and senior police officer were present. IG Police Haji Habib ur Rehman informed the meeting about the overall law and order situation in the province, police performance and the significant features of the proposed reorganization.
The Chief Minister said that police officials safeguarding the life and property of citizens are a precious asset and by laying down their lives police martyrs have proved that safety of the people is of paramount importance. He said that due to difficult economic situation, poverty and unemployment problem has increased and under the circumstances there is a heavy responsibility on police to perform its duties with commitment and dedication. He said that government is striving that the people should remain peaceful and no property is damaged. He said due attention is also being paid to capacity-building of police in curbing the menace of terrorism. Moreover, he said, 100 model police stations are being set up in the province while citizen feedback model is being introduced in police department.
Later Punjab Government approved more than fifty billions for Punjab Police in the budget 2012-13 to improve the law & order situation in the province
