Lahore:Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that computerization of land record is a public service project and the work on this project is going on speedily. He disclosed that service centers will be inaugurated in Saddar & Lahore Cantt., Lodhran and Hafizabad within next two months whereas service centers will start functioning in other districts of the province by the end of the year. He expressed the hope that after completion of land record computerization project, people will get rid of corrupt mafia and it will also facilitate the people in getting ownership deed, transfer of land and other matters. The Chief Minister said that he will himself preside over a meeting every month for early completion of this project.
He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress of land record computerization project here today. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Chairman Planning & Development, Senior Member Board of Revenue, secretaries, Commissioner Lahore, DCOs of various districts and experts attended the meeting. Project Director of Land Record Management Information System Irfan Elahi informed about the progress of the project.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that corruption is a menace and Pakistan cannot make progress without elimination of corruption. He said that on the one hand the people will get relief through land record computerization project while on the other will also get rid of exploitative system. The Chief Minister said that this project will eliminate corruption, forgery and the heinous business of grabbing lands of the people through illegal means will also be curbed. He said that due to this excellent project, land disputes continuing for years between the people will be resolved. While constituting a committee consisting of revenue and technical experts, Shahbaz Sharif directed that this committee should evolve a strategy for ridding the people of the exploitative system and formulate such a system based on technology as could rid the masses of corrupt mafia. He said that land record computerization is a welfare project therefore an effective system of feedback of the public opinion should be evolved. He said that no delay in this public welfare project will be tolerated. He said that in those districts where the pace of work on this project is slow, the concerned District Coordination Officer should be directed to expedite the work on this project. He directed that an effective publicity campaign with regard to this project be also launched so that people could fully benefit from it. The participants of the meeting also gave their proposals with regard to this project.
