Lahore:Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Food, Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt has said that the wheat procurement process is continuing as per routine in the province. He said that in order to make wheat procurement process transparent and corruption free, senior officers of the Food Department and he himself are paying visits to wheat procurement centers in different districts of the province so that due returns could be ensured to the farmers for their labour. He said that legal action has been taken against 115 officers and officials during wheat procurement campaign. Those who were found involved in corruption and irregularities included 30 officers and officials of the Food Department and 21 of Revenue Department. He informed that special audit is being conducted on the complaint of irregularities in the procurement campaign at Rahimwala Rahim Yar Khan and Trunda Muhammadpanah and its report will soon be brought before the people.
Mansha Ullah Butt said that strict action will be taken against any officer or official found involved in irregularities in the wheat procurement campaign and exploitation of the farmers will not be tolerated.
