Government to ensure protection of working women:Zakia Shahnawaz

Lahore:Advisor to CM Punjab, Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz has said that appointment of Ombudswoman at the federal and provincial level will soon be made while it will be made binding upon all the government departments to ensure protection of working women.
She was addressing the meeting of Provincial Committee for Protection of Women against harassment at their workplace, here today. Provincial secretaries of Women Empowerment, Social Welfare and Law departments, MNA Zahid Hamid and other senior officers were present on the occasion. Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz said that Pakistani women are highly talented and there is a need for their encouragement. She said that immediate action should be taken against the elements involved in harassment of women at their workplace so that they could play their due role for the progress and development of the country with complete peace of mind. She expressed her satisfaction that implementation of package for women development has started and the approval has been given to 15% quota for women in government departments, three years increase in their age limit and their representation in provincial selection committees. The meeting also considered recommendations for the appointment of Ombudswoman and it was decided that its summary will soon be sent to the government. Provincial Secretary for Women Empowerment Department Iram Bukhari gave a detailed briefing regarding measures for the implementation of women development package.
