Recue 1122 Chakwal received a fire call from khewra salt mine and responded on spot along with equipped firefighters. By considering the condition of incident Provincial Monitoring Cell moved additional fire fighting teams from Rawalpindi and Mandi baha ud din to cope this blaze.
The absence of fire hydrants, narrow entrance, difficult access to the fire & mine, partially collapsed shoring formation, week and burning wooden structure made operation extremely difficult.
Fire fighters of rescue 1122 entered in the mine up to 1200 feet and started the operation at the area of 500 feet long In mine. Through professional fire fighting on modern lines by using all latest techniques rescuers controlled the fire after 9 hour continues operation
The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer appreciated the fire fighters and said although a modern fire service is sense of safety for community but prevention can play a vital role to reduce emergencies ratio from society. It is moral duty of all community members to take initial step from their premises to identify hazard and to work for prevention.
