Punjab govt accepted demands of Punjab Flour Mills Association

Lahore : Punjab Food Department has accepted demands of Punjab Flour Mills Association.

The Chairman of Punjab Flour Mills Association Abdul Rauf Mukhtar announced to call off the strike in a joint press conference, today.

Provincial Secretary Food Waqas Ali Mehmood, Director Food Punjab Wajid Ali Shah, Chairman Pakistan Flour Mills Association Asim Raza and Chairman Punjab Flour Mills Association Abdul Rauf Mukhtar were also present on this occasion.

In a joint statement, both the parties agreed that there will be no involvement of district administration in the smooth functioning of mills. No officer/official other than Punjab Food Department will be allowed to enter the premises of flour mills. There will be free movement of wheat in Punjab province. Mills can purchase wheat from any where inside the Punjab. To determine the rate of 20 kg flour bag there will be joint meeting on 28th May between Punjab government and the Flour Mills Association to review the rate of flour/atta according to the price of wheat in open market. Punjab government shall try to assist/help flour mills of KPK with help of KPK government.

Secretary Food Punjab Waqas Ali Mehmood while expressing his views said that the Food Department and flour mills are the two wheels of a vehicle and they are indispensable for each other. He said that the hoarding disallowed and stern action has been taken against hoarders.

Secretary Food said that flour mills have been facilitated in current wheat procurement. Punjab government is going to accomplish the target of 45 lac metric ton wheat first time during last ten years. Interests of cultivators have been safeguarded and every step has been taken to rescue them from exploitation, he added.
