Lahore : Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Amir Uddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Sardar Mohammad Al-freed Zafar has said that Corona Virus is a contagious disease which has spread more rapidly in densely populated cities as compare to the rural areas.
The main reason is that people are more in touch with each other and ignore precautions. He added that less cases of corona have been reported in suburbs, villages and towns than in other major cities of the world. A similar situation has been witnessed in Pakistan, he stressed.
Talking to media here today, Prof. Al-Freed Zafar said that women are not more affected by Corona Virus than men as women have higher immunity than men and they are not in danger also during pregnancy. He said that open air is essential for protection from Corona so rural populations are safer than big cities.
He revealed that Corona has appeared for the third time while for the first time this virus was later in 2002 renamed SARS, the second time the same virus was identified as MERS in 2012 at that time and it was appeared and most of its prey was camels in the Middle East where from this disease was transmitted from camels to humans.
Principal PGMI said that the situation could be aggravated if the people showed recklessness and roamed the streets and bazaars in groups in the form of gangs for unnecessary walks and entertainment during the smart lockdown in Punjab.
The use of masks and frequent hand-washing advice should be strictly followed so that the epidemic graph can be reduced as soon as possible, Principal PGMI added.
He said that this individual and collective threat can be averted for all of us by adopting precautionary measure. Principal Zafar said that as per the instructions of the Punjab Government, all steps are being taken in hospitals to combat this virus and provide maximum protection to the citizens and appropriate facilities are being provided to them even in this difficult time.
