Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a meeting at his office here on Thursday in which the performance of Excise & Taxation Department along with the reasons for the delay in issuance of number plats came under discussion.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that due to lack of number plats of vehicles and motorcycles, the people are facing difficulties and I am well aware of it.
He directed that vehicle owners and motorcyclists should not be disturbed without any reason as long as the process of issuance of number plats is not started and the persons having a receipt of Excise Department should not be asked about the number plate.
The police have been issued instructions as well, he added. He said that reasons for the delay in issuance of number plates should be identified and speedy steps be taken by identifying the solution so that the delay could be redressed. He further directed that system of issuance of number plates should be made easy.
He also directed to submit comprehensive recommendations adding that E&T Department should bring innovation in its work and the department be made commensurate with the new needs so that the people could be facilitated as new ideas are required in the new Pakistan.
Provincial E&T Minister Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmad, Secretary and DG Excise, Secretary (Implementation) to CM and Addl. DG Excise attended the meeting.
