Lahore : Minister for Transport Jahanzeb Khan Khichi has said that green revolution will be brought in Pakistan besides promotion of education and technology as plantation is only way to cope with environmental pollution. He said that clean and green Punjab will also be a helpful to promote tourism.
This was stated by him while addressing the ceremonies held to observe “Cleanliness Week” under “Saaf and Sarsabz Punjab” in district Vehari today. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathiya and other officers of concerned departments were also present on this occasion.
He said that during Weekly Cleanliness Campaign, a competition of cleanliness and tree plantation would be conducted between all the districts. He vowed that district Vehari will be brought at the top in the whole province in cleanliness and tree plantation drive.
The Minister directed to all provincial departments to launch special cleanliness campaign in cities, town and rural areas during Cleanliness Week. He further directed to pay special attention on tree plantation campaign and all the departments should achieve their goals of planting saplings during plantation campaign. He said that special training would be given to the students in educational institutes for cleanliness.
He said that World Plantation Day will be observed enthusiastically in March and all the departments should play their due rule in this regard. He said that trees and clean and green atmosphere is an asset for our next generation. Deputy Commissioner while talking on this occasion said that plan has been chalked out for observing cleanliness week.
He further stated that 300 saplings would be planted in Danish School on 21st march at Tibba Sultan Pur.
Later, Minister and Deputy Commissioner led the awareness walk regarding cleanliness week from DCO Office to V Chowk.
