Lahore : Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy said, “Sports activities keep you engaged and refreshes one’s mind from their professional daily routine. It plays a vital role in building one’s health and fitness. Taking out some time for such activities makes you feel better and give a chance to focus upon yourself and meet others too.”
He said in his speech to the participants and audience at the opening ceremony of Annual Sports Week 2019 which was held in the Gymnasium, Ojha Campus of Dow University of Health Sciences, Tuesday morning.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Pro Vice Chancellors, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Masroor, Prof. Dr. Zarnaz Wahid and Prof. Dr. Khawar Saeed Jamali, Registrar Amanullah Abbasi, Director Finance Nadeem Shakoor Javeri, Prof. Nabila Soomro, Prof. Dr. Kartar Dawani, Director Sports Prof. Mukarram Ali, Prof. Sumbul Shamim, Dr. Shockat Ali, along with senior faculty members and a huge crowd of students.
Prof. Saeed Quraishy added, “Every year, we engage our students in such sporting activities to build up friendly relationship within the campus. As part of the game, some may succeed while some may lose, but they should not lose hope and should try and start over again with new zeal and zest.” At the end, he appreciated the tireless efforts of the director sports, Prof. Mukarram Ali and his team.
Prof. Mukarram Ali indicated in his speech that, “Teams comprising of 3000 students from 13 Institutes of Dow University are taking part in the Annual Sports Week, this time. They had been practicing with full enthusiasm since 1 month to slam the ground during the matches.” He told that this is the joint effort of 5 sports coordinators, 17 event in-charges and 36 focal persons who made this event happen.Earlier, Prof. Saeed Quraishy marked the official beginning of Annual Sports Week 2019 by cutting the ribbons. Also, shields were distributed to the Heads of Institutes and faculty members at the end of the ceremony for making it a successful event.
