Lahore : Federal Minister for Information
and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Monday that entire Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) was on the one side while its Managing Director was on the other side.
He was talking to media persons after meeting the protesting employees of the PTV outside Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) headquarters along with members of the Senate
committee on Information and Broadcasting.
He said that for past 23 days, the MD PTV has failed to attend his office at PTV headquarters and even today he could not attend the committee meeting and added no institution could be run in this manner.
He said that the MD PTV should tender resignation voluntarily as he was unable to run the affairs of the institution.
Chaudhry Fawad said that all members of the committee have called for removal of the MD PTV. He said the Committee will give its recommendations to Prime Minister.
He said that the post of MD PTV has been advertised and a full time MD would be appointed soon and the present acting MD will have to go. He said as long as there was no chairman of PTV Board of Directors, the board could not work.
Earlier, Chairman Standing Committee Faisal Javed along with the committee members and the minister met the protesting PTV employees and said that the committee has taken notice of the situation and
discussed the issue in the meeting.
He assured them resolution of their problems and said that Information Minister has also written a letter to prime minister on the reservations of PTV employees.
Pir Sabir Shah said that the oppositions also supported the demands of the PTV employees. Rubina Khalid said that the PPP would join the workers protest if the matter was not resolved on priority.
