Young players took part in hectic training

Lahore : Sports Board Punjab’s 7-Game U-16 Coaching Camp entered final phase with dozens of young players took part in hectic training at athletics, hockey and volleyball camps at Lahore, Gojra and Sialkot respectively on Thursday.

Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar, in a statement on Thursday, said SBP’s 7-Game U-16 Coaching Camps will provide much needed back-up sports strength to our sports teams. “Our expert coaches imparted top level training to young players. They also focused on the diet, physical and mental fitness of young athletes during the camps,” he added.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar further said Sports Board Punjab provided best facilities to all participants during the U-16 Coaching Camps at all venues. “We will also extend similar amenities in the next phase of SBP’s 7-Game U-16 Coaching Camps”.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar informed that SBP coaches have been advised to prepare evaluation reports of all camp trainees so that we can pick top athletes on the basis of their performance, fitness and discipline for further grooming. “These top young athletes will definitely be our true asset. After the completion of camp training we will recommend the names of best camp trainees to different sports associations and federations for national and international sports competitions,” he elaborates.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said that SBP’s 7-game U-16 Coaching Camps have been initiated to trace genuine sports talent from grassroots level. “Definitely, our SBP’s 7-game U-16 Coaching Camp campaign will help us a lot in making country’s sports future bright”.

It is pertinent to mention here that closing ceremonies of four U-16 Coaching Camps – mat-wrestling (Lahore), powerlifting, weightlifting (Gujranwala) and kabaddi (Faisalabad) were held on January 19, 2019.
