Lahore : Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Friday strongly condemned the
assassination of Maulana Sami ul Haq and said that strict
implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) could have averted such a tragic incident.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that prime minister Imran Khan had been informed about the tragic incident that took the precious life of JUI-S chief. Maulana was resting at his home when the unknown assailants attacked him with a sharp weapon in Rawalpindi area, he added.
Sami ul Haq had importance in the politics of the country, he said.

Commenting on the Faizabad protest and sit-ins, he said that
the government was engaged in talks with the protestors and sit-ins.
He said that Minister for Religious Affairs, Noor-ul-Haq was
negotiating with the committee of protestors and sit-in.
Five round of talks had been held so far, he added.
Fawad Chaudhry stated that the government was trying to resolve the matter peacefully.

To a question he said that there was a group of people who were using the name of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) for gaining their political motives. A lot of people do not know about the real issue, he added.

He made it clear that the present government would follow the policies for the betterment of the people of the country.
