PFA launch operation against Chupa Chups jelly

Lahore : On the directions of the Director General Punjab Food Authority Captain (R) Muhammad Usman, the authority kicked off a special drive to remove the stock of Chupa Chups (foreign brand of food) from market over proved the contamination of Carminic Acid (E120) colour in it.

According to details, enforcement teams of the provincial food regulatory body have been removed 154 cartons of chupa chups jelly from Lahore Zone, 28 cartons from North Zone and 14 cartons of is from South Zone.

Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that the use of Chupa Chups products and any other products which prepared with Carminic acid (E120) is strictly banned in Pakistan. He said that PFA will inform food industry through ad about the ban on the use of E120 in country. He informed food business operators not to import any foreign products in which Carminic acid (E120) is being used.

He said that PFA would be take strict action against the shopkeepers and violators who found guilty in future. The operation is continued with vigorously in school canteens and stores across the Punjab, he added.
