Shahbaz Sharif inaugurates Surgical Tower in Mayo Hospital

Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated Pakistan’s largest surgical tower at Mayo Hospital here today and termed its opening as the historical moment.

On the occasion, it was stated that this six-storey tower is equipped with most modern medical equipments. Surgical transplant facility for physically handicapped persons is provided and the system to keep the operation theaters 100 percent infection free has also been adopted.

Similarly, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculoses through digital X-ray of chest and stomach cancer have also been provided. The whole system has been completed by the Punjab government with its own resources and the facility can be termed as a milestone initiative in healthcare delivery system.

Similarly, many other facilities including digital angiography, CT scan, MRI, mammography, laparoscopy system, ultrasound tissue dissector, reconstructive and vascular surgeries are also being introduced and these facilities will be available in historic Mayo Hospital for the first time in the country.

The Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, after inaugurating Surgical Tower in Mayo Hospital, visited Ultra Sound, Mammography, Chest Clinic, Laundry Unit, Kitchen, Skill Lab, Surgical Tower ICU, General Surgical Ward, Burn Reconstruction Unit, and Burn Unit.

The Chief Minister also talked to the patients on this occasion. A patient told Shehbaz Sharif that he was infected due to diabetes but now he is recovering as doctors are looking after him very well.

In a response, the Chief Minister smilingly advise him to eat less the patient replied back to Chief Minister that now he does not eat much. The Chief Minister asked his attendant to take care of his eating lest he may over eating in night.

The Chief Minister also inquired after the patients and prayed for their early recovery. On this occasion, a patient while lauding the setting up of surgical tower said that Chief Minister has done a wonderful job. The Chief Minister also distributed gifts among the children patients of burn unit.

The Chief Minister asked the patients repeatedly to tell him if he can do anything more for them. Later, Chief Minister, while talking to the media persons, said in a lighter mood that 12 days have remained of his government and he has to inaugurate 12 more hospitals.
