Lahore : A meeting of provincial cabinet was held under the chair of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here today. The meeting strongly condemned firing incident targeting Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and prayed for his early recovery.
The Chief Minister directed to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) under Additional IG Counter Terrorism Department and said that this committee will hold complete investigation of the incident. Punjab cabinet accorded approval to restore the employment quota for three divisions of southern Punjab. Under it, the quota of Bahawalpur, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan Divisions along with the districts of Bhakkar and Mianwali will be 20 percent in public sector jobs. The meeting also approved to change the name of Punjab Coal Mining Company to Punjab Mineral Company.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that public welfare and development of southern Punjab is very dear to him and added that PML-N government has taken unprecedented steps for the development of the region. Provision of 36 percent resources for 31 percent population is part of this commitment. He said that people of the region are fully benefiting from the mega projects completed with a cost of billions of rupees and this will continue in future as well.
Provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, chief secretary and inspector general police attended the meeting.
