LHWS sit in had political motives : Kh Imran Nazir

Lahore : Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that Punjab is the only Province who regularize 50,000 Lady Health workers and also pioneer in approving service structure and new pay scales to them.

Minister said that working on service structure of LHWs was in progress for last several months. He said that Sit-in (Dharna) of LHWs had political motives, the politicians came to express solidarity in dharna, their provincial Government neither given service structures nor paid salaries of many months to the LHWs.

He expressed these views while addressing CEO’s conference here in a local hotel, today.

On this occasion, Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan, Special Secretary Dr. Faisal Zahoor, Director General Health Services Dr. Munir Ahmed, Dr. Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Project Director of various programs, CEO Health and DHO’s of all districts were present.

Khawaja Imran Nazir said that all indicators of Health care services in Punjab is improving day by day. Minister said that after completing provision of latest machinery and modern facilities, department is now focusing on quality assurance, which is the result of teamwork. Minister added that attendance of staff, cleanliness services of hospitals and provision of other health facilities has improved significantly and all districts are in green zone in this regard. while addressing the conference Minister told that 24000 children have been screened in integrated screening camps for special children so far which happened first time in history of Pakistan.

Khawaja Imran Nazir said that parents have special responsibility regarding the prevention of diseases and safe vaccination to their children which help to avoid polio and other diseases. Health Minister said that with the help of PITB, 250 BHUs are being converted to E-BHU in which online doctors from Lahore Center will check patients in these BHUs. This facility will be available in those BHUs who situated in remote areas where doctors do not like to go. Khawaja Imran directed the CEO to organize awareness seminars and other activities for celebration of World Health Day enthusiastically.

At this occasion, Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan said that during health survey of Punjab, performance of Rawalpindi and Faisalabad district was best while Rajanpur showed overwhelmingly improvement in his performance.

He said that health management information system (HMIS) is being expanded with help of PITB in Tehsil and district hospitals of Punjab. He said HMIS will help to improve Queue management system, emergency and other service delivery issues.

He directed all CEOs to ensure provision of medicine in all Health facilities if any issue appeared in this regard, they should immediately contact help line 1033.

Addressing the conference DG Health Services Dr. Munir Ahmed briefed the participants on Measles and Polio campaign.
