The violation of the discipline will not be tolerated : Syed Raza Ali

Lahore : Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani chaired performance evaluation meeting at Punjab University.

The provincial minister made a 5-member committee to resolve the teacher’s promotion issues immediately. Committee will submit his report in a week.

Pro Chancellor also made a 3-member committee to give practical suggestions to improve university’s ranking and resolving pending issues. This committee is require to submit its report in two weeks’ time.

Syed Raza Ali Gillani assured the committees that their recommendations will be implemented in letter and spirit. The higher education minister directed the university administration to adjust the ratio of teachers and students at 1/30 as per the international standards.

He directed the Vice Chancellor to fill all the budgeted seats as soon as possible by following all the legal requirements and merit.

The Minister was addressing the performance evaluation meeting at the university’s executive club here on Tuesday.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zakriya Zakir, Registrar Dr. Khalid Khan, All Deans, Directors, Hostel Wardens and representatives from HED were also there in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gilani said that university teachers should play their role in promoting the culture of modern research in students. He directed Punjab Higher Education Commission to establish a teacher training academy soon.

Talking to the media, he said that issues have not been resolved since ages that’s why he himself coming to the university because government is focused to enhance university’s QS ranking. We are working on a one point agenda that is to enhance country’s higher education standards. Our goal is to bring five government universities including Punjab University to top rankings in the first round.

The provincial minister said there was no room for miscreants in the University. He directed that the decisions of disciplinary committee to be followed in letter and spirit.

The minister said that the violation of the discipline will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that we are resolving university’s issues on priority basis so that its rankings improves. We are also working on the project to make new universities in all 36 districts across Punjab.

He said that universities must pay attention to research and postgraduate. He advised the students to focus on their education because they are country’s future.
