Rail car service between Kohat – Rawalpindi inaugurates

Lahore : Federal Minister for Railways Saad Rafiq Wednesday inaugurated Rail Car service between Kohat and Rawalpindi, reactivating the century old railway track between the two cities after.

Addressing on the occasion, the federal minister said that Rs 600 million were spent on repair of the expired railway bridge over the River Indus near Khushal Garh, Kohat before restarting the rail car service.

He said that he would make sure that the money was well spent on railway projects and no corrupt practice was made.

Former Senator Abbas Khan Afridi speaking on the occasion thanked Railways Minister Saad Rafique for inaugurating the railway link.

While Ameer Muqam, a leader of PML-N in his address said that all the projects initiated by former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif were accomplished so far.

Saleem Altaf, a leader of Carwan i Amal. said engineers and experts of a foreign firm had confirmed that the hundred years old railway bridge was now capable of carrying the load for another hundred years and it was safe to run rail  car service on it.

Kohat Railway Station was built in the year 1905 by British rulers and land for the railway track was bought from Bahadur Mohabat Ali Khan, Nawabzada Jalal Khan, Nawabzada Jehandar Khan and others in year 1901, Asif Khan Advocate said.
