Lahore : The Debating Society of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Medical & Dental College, Lahore was arranged Pakistan’s first ever Intercollegiate All Female Debating Championship 2018 successfully under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Farid Ahmad Khan Chairman & Dean Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex / Principal SKZMDC and with the guidance of Prof. Dr. Haroon Javaid Majid, Faculty President, Debating Society SKZMDC.
The response garnered by the “Khalifa Parliamentary Debating Championship 2018-Women” was very positive. Multiple teams from different educational institutes across the country such as Kinnaird College for Women University, Forman Christian College, Ameer ud Din Medical College, SIMS, UCL, Government College University, Lahore Alma, Fatima Jinnah Medical University and many more participated with enthusiasm and vigour.
The aim for inaugurating the first ever all female championship was to showcase Pakistan as a progressive nation, which believes in empowering its women. Through this event, women had a chance to speak freely about their opinions on various topics and argue about the daily dilemmas faced by any community all over the world. It was a reflection of their skills and voracity which made this event possible and provided different perspectives about the society.
A team of Kinnaird College for Women University Lahore won the championship and a team of Government College university was declared as a runner up team.
Chief Guest of an event Prof. Dr. Farid Ahmad Khan Chairman & Dean/ Principal gave away trophies to the winner and runner up teams. While addressing he congratulated the winners and appreciated the ideology behind this event.
He said it is a proud moment indeed to see the women of our country progress by bounds and leaps towards a society which is progressive in its approach, and work shoulder, to shoulder with men to make our country proud.
As a nation cannot reach its glorious heights without all its people working in equal harmony. All the best wishes and prayers to the future of our country, all the men and women who work tirelessly in all channels to make our country proud.
We hope to further this approach by conducting such events in the near future and starting a movement in which everyone participates wholeheartedly.
This is by no means a dead end, instead it is road which we will take and educate our masses about. In Shaa ALLAH all Women’s Debating Championship will be conducted again with more zeal and vigour.
