PSQCA launches operation against substandard gas home appliances

Lahore : On directions of Federal Minister for Science & Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain, Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), started grand operation against illegal brands of gas home appliances, sealing five companies.

According to a spokesman for the PSQCA, following the orders of Federal Minister, DG PSQCA Engr. Khalid Siddiq gave special task to the authority officers and directed them to take stern action against the companies working illegally and involved in preparing sub©standard gas home appliances.
The special team of Conformity Assessment Central©II including Administrative Officer Nadeem Chohan, Field Officer Own Farooq and others, led by Deputy Director Asghar Ali inspected Township Market and sealed five brands of gas home appliances, which were involved in working without having PSQCA licence.
The team also issued warning notices to the shopkeepers who were also involved in selling fake brands.
Deputy Director Asghar Ali asked the shopkeepers to stop selling illegal brands otherwise their stock would be taken into custody.
It may be mentioned here that this was the second big action of the authority in three days as, two days earlier,the PSQCA raided different parts of the city including Johar Town, Punjab Housing Society, Wapda Town, Public Accounts Society, Naz Town, NFC Housing Society, Defence Road, Raiwind and other posh areas of the provincial capital and had sealed 11 bottled drinking water companies which were working illegally without having PSQCA’s licence.
The teams also discarded huge quantity of stock on the spot which was stored at the godowns.
DG PSQCA Engr. Khalid Siddiq said that PSQCA’s surveillance teams are continuously striving hard to trace illegal manufacturers of different brands and added strict action would be taken against the companies if they were found in preparing sub©standard items.
He said that working without PSQCA’s licence is a heinous crime and special teams have been formed to check these black sheep.
