Lahore : A high-level delegation led by special envoy for OIC and Middle East of President of Indonesia, Dr. Alwi Shihab called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif today.
During the meeting, different matters of mutual interest including promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries came under discussion and it was agreed upon to enhance cooperation in trade and other sectors.
Talking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy brotherly relations and we want to promote economic relations as well. He said Indonesia has progressed in trade and industrial sectors due to consistency in policies and Indonesia is far ahead in agro-based industry.
He said Pakistan has been facing terrorism and energy crisis and the people, police and the armed forces have rendered great sacrifices in this war and due to it, Pakistan is winning the war against the enemy of humanity. Similarly, our efforts have brought fruit for overcoming energy crisis.
He said that our government has improved the economy though we need to adopt many more reforms on the economic front. China is investing 60 billion dollars in Pakistan and this investment has been made under the CPEC which is heralding a new era for development of the region. He said that Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia and Malaysia can jointly work for public welfare.
He said that solid steps will be taken to expand relations between Punjab and Indonesia.
The Chief Minister said that he will visit Indonesia whenever he is free.
Dr. Alwi Shihab said that Pakistani government has done a wonderful job by overcoming energy crisis and completion of energy projects in a short period of time is a result of your hard work and dedication. He said that he is happy to see Pakistani prosperity.
Provincial Ministers, Indonesian Ambassador Iwan Suyudhie Amri, kh. Ahmed Hasaan and others were present on the occasion.
