PFA sought reports about Baby milk Lactalis 

Lahore : Punjab Food Authority has taken notice after eye opening reports of International media of “Salmonella” bacteria in children’s leading milk brand “Lactalis” and directed to teams to submit report within three days.

Baby milk maker Lactalis and French authorities have ordered a global recall of millions of products over fears of salmonella bacteria contamination. French authorities and dairy giant Lactalis have ordered the recall of millions of baby milk products around the world due to fears of “Salmonella”.

DG PFA Noor ul Amin Mengal directed officers to conduct survey about the effects of imported milk on children health and to find out of there were any illness cases reported after use of mentioned brand. Further strategy and future of brand will be decided after complete report. If found harmful, complete removal of product from market will be ordered. He directed to officers to submit report within three days after probing this matter.

DG further said that several cases have been reported about effects of this product on children in several countries. He said that Salmonella is an infections that spreads from intestine of animals. This virus may cause severe diseases including diarrhea, vomiting and stomach in children.

It is important to mention here that PFA has already formulated PFA Regulation in order to control the substandard formula milk supply in market. he added.
