Secretary BTA sealed 3 Blood Banks in Gujranwala

Lahore : Secretary Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority Dr. Ather, in a successful raid at various blood units at Gujranwala recovered a large number of poor quality blood bags and screening kits from illegal blood units.

Three blood units at Munir Chowk Gujranwala naming Punjab Blood Bank, Civic centre blood transfusion centre and Al Qaim Blood Bank were sealed.

More than 200 blood and blood components bags were recovered from Punjab Blood Bank. This is the largest number of blood bags recovered from any illegal blood unit. All delivery points of Punjab Blood Bank were closed.

Warning was issued to Noor Lab Munir Chowk Gujranwala to stop all blood banking activity in the lab.

At Punjab Blood Bank blood was also being transfused without supervision. The matter is being further probed.

Secretary BTA also visited Hafizabad and appreciated working of DHQ hospital Hafizabad Blood unit.
