Pakistan Army rescues kidnapped Canadian family

Lahore : The Pakistan Army have recovered five Canadian hostages who were kidnapped from Afghanistan in 2012.

The hostages and their three children were rescued from the captivity of terrorists.

US intelligence services had informed Pakistani authorities about the hostages that they were kept at Pak-Afghan border into Kurram agency .

The operation by Pakistani forces successfully recovered the hostages. “All hostages were recovered safe and sound and are being repatriated to the country of their origin,” said ISPR.

The Army further said that the successful execution of the hostage-rescue operation underscores the importance of timely intelligence sharing and Pakistan’s continued commitment towards fighting this menace through cooperation between two forces against a common enemy.

President Donald Trump announced that US and Pakistani officials had secured the release of an American woman, her Canadian husband and their three children from Taliban captivity.

The US leader termed their release was a “positive moment” for US relations with Pakistan.

“Ms Coleman gave birth to the couple’s three children while they were in captivity,” Trump said, in a White House statement. “Today, they are free.”
