Punjab govt admits UHS entry test paper was leaked

Lahore : Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the joint investigation committee constituted by the Chief Minister Punjab has got some of the evidences about the leakage of MCAT paper from the University of Health Sciences.

On the basis of it, it has been decided that the said paper will be taken again at the end of the month and the exact date will be announced in a day or two. He further said that fee will not be charged from the candidates appearing in the said paper.

He said this while addressing an emergency press conference at the committee room of DGPR Department, here today.

Spokesman Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, Secretary Specialized Healthcare Najam Ahmad Shah, Prof. Faisal Masood, DG Forensic Science Agency Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Tahir and others were present on the occasion.

Kh. Salman Rafique said that the Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif constituted a joint investigation committee under the chair of Chief Secretary after receiving complaints about the paper leakage of medical entry test held on August 20 under the aegis of University of Health Sciences. FIA, Special Branch, Forensic experts and other high officials were included in the said committee. After thorough investigation and hard work, some of the solid evidences were divulged and on the basis of them, further investigation was carried out after registration of FIR and some of the accused involved in this scandal have been arrested. The names of the arrested persons are not being disclosed now to reach out to the arrest of the persons involved in this network.

The Minister said that the report of the joint investigation team has been presented to the Chief Minister Punjab and on his direction; a high level commission is being constituted to thoroughly study the examination system of UHS to make it foolproof. He said that further arrests are expected as the investigation is still underway.

To a question, he said that only a delay of 10-15 days will occur in the start of the educational year due to re-holding of the paper. He said that the said paper will be taken under the supervision of new management team of UHS.

Spokesman Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said that a big network is involved in the paper leakage of the UHS and after its detection all the accused will be brought to justice. He made it clear that anybody found involved in this racket will be prosecuted without any discrimination.
