Greenstar Social Marketing inaugurated its second Portable Container Health Center

Lahore : Greenstar Social Marketing inaugurated its second Portable Container Health Center (PCHC) in Babaji Kalay village, district Nowshera – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PCHC is a readymade health center equipped with all necessary medical equipment needed to provide maternal and newborn health care services. This project is financed by the German government through KfW Development Bank (KfW).

The PCHC was inaugurated by Jürgen Zoll, First Secretary – Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Pakistan under the presence of Ms. Meher Ghawas, Assistant to First Secretary – Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Pakistan, and Dr. Masuma Zaidi, the Project Coordinator Health Sector at KfW.

Jürgen Zoll expressed the German government’s support for the PCHC project through KfW and gave his heartiest congratulations to GSM’s management for providing health services to poor communities in Pakistan’s inaccessible areas, through this innovative project. He was also given a round of the health center with briefing by Jawad Mansoor, GSM’s focal person for the project.

The ceremony was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Haroon Ibrahim, the Program Manager KfW Programs at GSM, who expressed his gratitude to the German government for their support in establishing these PCHCs and valuable contribution towards a healthy and prosperous Pakistan.

The PCHC can be developed and made fully functional within one month. The objective of this project is to contribute towards the economic growth and development of the country through women empowerment, reduction in poverty, and ensuring good health and well-being. Under this project, the first PCHC was set up by GSM at Village Mohri, Tehsil Gujar Khan – District Rawalpindi.

GSM has dedicated this PCHC to late Dr. Ruth Pfau – a German-born Pakistani Physician and sister of the Society of Daughters of the Heart of Mary. She moved from Germany to Pakistan and devoted more than 50 years of her life to fighting leprosy in the country.

Dr. Pfau contributed in establishing 157 leprosy clinics across Pakistan that treated over 56,780 people. She will always remain in the hearts of Pakistanis for her services and will be a beacon of motivation for others to reach the poorest, ailing communities.
