Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the government of Pakistan Muslim League-N has eliminated the 70 years old culture of recommendations and nepotism and has promoted merit in every sector.
As much as one lakh and 50 thousand teachers are recruited purely on the merit in the province. Similarly, the recruitment from constable to the officer level has been made on hundred percent merit in police department.Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed these views while addressing the students going to Turkey under a Turkish language scholarship program at Model Town, today.
In the history of the country, a delegation of 30 students is being sent to Turkey for learning Turkish language and these students have been selected purely on merit.
The students going to Turkey are ambassadors of country and they should bring laurels home with their exemplary performance and behavior.
The Chief Minister said that you are bright stars who have been selected to learn Turkish language from the University of Istanbul. This university has developed many a world-renowned scholars. You are expected to work hard because hard work is a key to success.
He said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoy close, brotherly relations and the both have been standing side by side in an hour of trial. The relations based on mutual love and respect exists between the people of both the countries and their hearts beat jointly.
He said that Turkish people love their Pakistani brethren and I am thankful to Turkish Consul General for extending cooperation in Turkish language program for Pakistani students.
Replying to a question of the media persons, the Chief Minister said that short courses are also arranged for the politicians and he has also arranged their training in the academy.
Replying to a question about the baseless allegation of a private TV channel, the Chief Minister said that these media persons have lied extremely and defamed the politicians. There is no bigger cruelty than lying, he added.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also distributed laptops among the students going to Turkey. Five officers were also included in the delegation of these students.
Schools Education Minister Rana Mashhood, Turkish Consul General Serdar Deniz and others were present on the occasion.
