CM condoles the death of Professor Hassan Akbar Kamal

Lahore : Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the sad demise of prominent Urdu poet and educationist Professor Hassan Akbar Kamal.

In a condolence message, the Chief Minister paid tributes to literary services of Professor Hassan Akbar and said that the late had a prominent place in poetry and his services for Urdu literature will be remembered for a long time.

He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.

Syed Akbar was born on 14 February 1946, in Agra. He writes under the pen name, Kamal. After partition, he moved to Pakistan with his parents.

Hasan Akbar Kamal passed away in Karachi, leaving a legacy of patriotic songs and romantic numbers that will keep alive his name for many years to come. He was an English Professor who wrote lyrics in perfect Urdu and was loved by three generations because of his easy to remember and influence lyrics.

His father had a job that required him to move to various cities and according to him, he learnt a lot from different cities. He did his M.A in English and joined academics.

He was a lecturer of English, at the Government College Raheem Yaar Khan, Government Islamia College and Government Delhi College, Karachi. Sukhan, Khizan Mera Mosam, Khushbu Jaisi Baat Karo, Ilteja, Kamal Ke Mazameen, Taa’ssurat-E-Tanqeed, are the collections of his works.

He was honored with the Aadam Jii Adabi award for Khizan Mera Mausam. Rustam Khan and Aadam Khoron Ka Jazeeraare the novels that he wrote for children.
