President Mamnoon Hussain journeyed through train

Lahore : President Mamnoon Hussain journeyed through train from Lahore to Rawalpindi on Thursday. He travelled through Special VVIP salon no 74 and 75 of Subak Kharam Express. CEO Pakistan Railways, Javed Anwar see off the Honourable President at Lahore Railways Station at 4:30 pm and was received at Rawalpindi Railway Station by Chairperson Ministry of Railways, Parveen Agha and DG Operations, Dastagir Baloch. The purpose of this travel is to encourage team of Pakistan Railways. Pakistan Railways has experienced surge of more than Rs. 20 billion in revenue and its deficit slashed by Rs. 10 billion during the last four years along with improved services for the people.

Subak Kharam Express is a daily express train service between Lahore and Rawalpindi. Subak Kharam means stylish runner. It has Economy, AC Lower and AC Parlor accommodation. It covers the 290 kilometers distance from Lahore to Rawalpindi in 4 hours 35 minutes.

Meanwhile ; National media has reported that Pakistan Railways booked an entire train for President Mamnoon Hussain and his family members who were traveling from Lahore to Rawalpindi, causing hardships for other passengers.

According to details, the President and his family members took up the entire space in one whole train. Coupled with that, stringent security measures also doubled hardships for the common passengers.

The railcar heading towards Rawalpindi was also suspended for common passengers. According to SAMAA TV’s correspondent, passengers were also stopped from entering Lahore Railway Station owing to strict security measures.

This caused problems for the passengers as well as their family members.

However, Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq denied claims of passengers suffering as a result of the president’s journey.

“Despite the president traveling in it, the train was not declared special,” said Khawaja Saad Rafique. “The train stopped at all stations before arriving at Rawalpindi,” he added.
