IoBM scholar earns world laurels for Pakistan

Lahore : Noman Shaheer, graduate of IoBM, and currently a PhD (ABD) in international business (IB) at Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, along with his Advisor, Dr. Sali Li were recently awarded with 2017 Alan M. Rugman most promising scholar/young scholar award by the most prestigious forum of international business scholars, Academy of International Business (AIB).

Every year, all IB scholars around the world from most prestigious universities such as Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, LBS, Stanford etc. submit their research to AIB and only one scholar, whose research is selected as the best around the world, receives this award. So far, there are only 26 scholars who have received this award and mostly, this award is claimed by professors from top business schools who also have substantial scholarly experience.

It is for the first time a Pakistani citizen has been globally recognized through this prestigious award. Noman Shaheer is the second Muslim to receive this award (first Muslim, Dr. Ishtiaq Mahmood from Harvard University, won this award in 2001).

Noman Shaheer believes this accomplishment reflects the potential of IoBM and its professors. He says: “No matter where we go, our foundation is built by IoBM, its leadership and faculty. Therefore, I am highly grateful to IoBM and all of you for providing me with the training and skills, which enabled me to make a mark on global level. With a business scholar like Dr. Irfan Hyder in dean office and top professors like Javaid Ahmed and Ekhlaque Ahmed in permanent faculty positions, I really hope that IoBM will produce a generation, which will earn honor for our country and nation around the world”.
