Model stations of Metro Train would be completed before the 31st of July : Kh Ahmad Hassan

Lahore : Two elevated stations for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train, constructed at Islam Park and Salamat Pura, may be prepared as model stations before the 31st of July by finishing ongoing electrical and mechanical works, installing sign boards for public convenience, setting up ticket counters and taking into account all other minute details, so that these stations could be used as sample for completing work on other stations.

Chairman of steering committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project Khawaja Ahmad Hassan directed this during the weekly progress review meeting on the project.

He further directed for adopting effective protective measures for the recently completed civil structures of the stations while executing electrical and mechanical work at these places by wrapping, covering, isolation etc to prevent finished structures and installed equipment from damage and void re-do.

He directed for provision of safety equipments, including gloves, rubber shows, helmets and other necessary things to the staff performing duties for drainage of storm water during the ongoing rainy season. He directed for arranging short training in adopting safety measures for the staff by Rescue 1122 and appointed Chief Engineer TEPA Saif Ur Rehman as focal person for this purpose.

The meeting  was informed that electrical and mechanical work on all the 11 elevated stations along package-I and four stations along package-II of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train’s track has  been started by the Chinese contractor CR-NORINCO after the grey structure of these stations had been completed by the local contractors. The remaining nine stations of package–II will also be handed over to CR-NORINCO by the end of this as construction work was in full speed at these locations.

Launching of U-tub girders for construction of elevated track from Chouburji to Ali Town, Rai Wind Road is under way. So far 222 transom have been precast out of which 115 have been launched where as 28 U-tub girders have been precast out of which 15 have been launced.

The meeting was informed that 71 per cent of the civil work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project has so far been completed.

Progress on package-I from Dera Gujjaran, G.T.Road to Chouburji was 84 per cent, on package-II from Choburji to Ali Town was 52 per cent, on Depot near Dera Gujran was 75.3 per cent while on Stabling Yard near Ali Town it was 72 per cent.

Senior Deputy Mayor Nazir Khan Sawati,  General Manager Punjab Mass Transit Authority Syed Ozair Shah, Chief Engineer TEPA Saif-ur-Rehman, senior officials of NESPAK, LESCO, WASA, PTCL, SUI GAS, Traffic Police, Railways, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Chinese Contractor, CR- NOROINCO, Representatives of Chinese Engineering Consultant and Local Contractors of the project attended the meeting.
