Railways infrastructure would be remodel as CPEC demands : Kh Saad

Lahore : Minister for Railways Kh Saad Rafiq has said that it is the high time to remodel infrastructure of Railways according to the demands of CPEC . He directed that 26 acres of Railway land in Hijrat Colony ,Karachi, must be transformed into a container yard with public private partnership ,bearing in mind CPEC in future.

The minister said that it is essential to construct container terminal in order to get advantage from Pakistan Railways. This container yard is adjoining port area through city station as a result transport of containers will become easy. In same line Prem Nagar dry port has also been completed .

The minister directed MD REDEMCO Zuber Shafi, that master plan of Pipri Marshal Yard must be made by some expert firm . And 800 to 1000 acres of railway land must be utilized considering the future prospects.

He asked that food court and entertainment areas should also be part of master plan. Pipri Marshal Yard is connected to Port Qasim via National Highway and railways.
