Motorway Police to control overcharging in Public Service Vehicle

Lahore : Motorway Police, Central Zone have launched enforcement campaign in order to control the violations of overcharging and overloading in Public Service Vehicle on the eve of Eid-ul-Fiter This was stated by DIG Mirza Faran Baig while making surprise checking of overcharging in buses on national highways near Thoker Niaz Baig, Lahore. The central zone will return overly charged amount to passengers and imposed fine on violations.

DIG Mirza Faran Baig directed the patrolling officers to carry out strict enforcement against PSVs which involves in overcharging and overloading. The passengers will be asked about the fare charged from them, in case of overcharging overcharged money must be got returned to them. Zero tolerance police must be ensured and no PSVs will be allowed to enter on highways carrying extra passengers, he added.

DIG directed the sector and beat commanders to personally supervise the patrolling officers and conduct meetings with transporters associations regarding overcharging and overloading. The coordination will also be made with secretary RTA for proper enforcement against overcharging in PSVs.

DIG asked passengers to cooperate with Motorway Police and informed on Helpline 130 if any transporter charge extra fare or misbehave with them. He directed to ensure free flow of traffic to enable road users to reach their native homes safely to commemorate this holy event with their loving ones.

He directed deploying special squads to stop miscreants and control crimes during Eid-ul-Fiter days, as most of the people carry valuables while traveling on National Highways.

DIG directed the concerned staff to visit various bus terminals and warn transporters strict action against overcharging and overloading.

Besides, warning banners should also be erected in bus terminals containing messages of consequences of overcharging and overloading , he further added.
