Vanaspati Ghee causing cancer and heart diseases : PFA

Lahore : Punjab Food Authority has declared that Vanaspati Ghee is causing cancer and heart diseases , the use of palm oil and trans fatty acids on high temperature is injurious to health and the developed world has banned the use of vanaspati ghee .

The PFA has sent the matter to its scientific panel to review to effects of vanaspati ghee upon human health and requested the panel to give its recommendation regarding ban on the use vanaspati ghee in one month.

It would be interesting to mention here that during recent campaign of taking samples of vanaspati ghee, 80% brands were found unhygienic and injurious to health.
