Lahore : The Punjab government and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust signed agreements with regard to improvement in healthcare system in Model Town. According to the agreement, four hospitals constructed in suburban of Lahore in Manawan, Raiwind, Sabzazar and Kahna will be handed over to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust; while the management of blood transfusion centers in Multan and Bahawalpur is also being handed over to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust.
The health secretaries of Punjab and officials of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust signed on these agreements.
Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the health department team, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust and said that these are wonderful agreements for the improvement in the healthcare system.
Punjab government signed agreement with the German government for the establishment of blood transfusion centers in Bahawalpur and Multan. These centers will provide best blood screening facilities, and healthy blood will be provided. He said the sale of blood without screening is a cruel business which should be eliminated.
This trust comprises of philanthropists which has been serving the ailing humanity. 150 beds kidney center is completed in Multan and this trust will take over the management of this kidney center from June this year.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust is serving the ailing humanity, and its agreement with the Punjab government, is a welcome step.
He said that the trust will start running 100 beds Manawan hospital from May/June, 100 beds Raiwind hospital will start from October, and 60 beds Sabzazar hospital, which would be enhanced to 100 beds, will start from July. 100 beds hospital is under construction in Kahna; while this trust is running mother and childcare hospital in Lidhar. After the completion of these hospitals, 500 beds facility would be provided in suburban areas of Lahore, which would decrease burden on mega hospitals.
He said that Punjab government made an investment of billions of rupees for providing best treatment facilities to the common people, but the ordinary people are not getting treatment facilities in hospitals which they deserve. It is intolerable that the patient is laid on floor in the absence of doctors . This attitude cannot be accepted, and I will not tolerate it. Ordinary people require healthcare facilities. There is abundance of good senior and young doctors and nurses, but a handful people are bent upon agitation and intrigue. It is very painful when the loved ones depart this world without treatment or medicine. I tried my level best but in vain; then these noble people supported me, and I changed my path. I still appeal to the doctors to come forward for serving the ailing humanity, and serve their energies for improving the healthcare system with dedication and commitment.
He said that there are handful of young doctors who close the doors of treatment on poor people through their agitation and the patient dies after visiting hospitals. I have to adopt this path and handed over the management of hospitals to the trust so that the ordinary people may not be badly treated in the hospitals.
He said that stay order of kidney center Multan was got taken, but I am thankful to my legal team and the court, due to which, the stay order has been got vacated. Had this hospital been closed due to stay order, then, it would have been detrimental to the interest of the ailing humanity.
He said that Cuba prioritized healthcare facilities, and as a result best healthcare system is available in Cuba today. Similarly, healthcare models of Turkey and Malaysia are wonderful.
Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, advisor Dr. Umar Saif, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman Regional Board Indus Mian M. Ahsan and concerned officials attended the ceremony.
