Shahbaz Sharif visited the Kidney Institute Multan

Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today visited the Kidney Institute Multan to review medical facilities there. He inquired about the health of patients and asked them about the health facilities being provided at the institute. He also inspected the operation theater and the dialysis center of the institute. He also reviewed cleanliness arrangements.

The chief minister expressed his displeasure over the presence of the dirty sheets at the x-ray room and he reprimanded the concerning authorities over the appointment of untrained staff at the CT scan room.

He also expressed his anger over the delay in the provision of the natural gas for the installation of the laundry plant and said this is regrettable that the gas is not being provided for the laundry plant.

He also expressed his displeasure when presentation did not run during the meeting held at the hospital and reprimanded the MS of the hospital and the administration. He said billions of rupees are being provided for the medical facilities but this is sheer injustice that the common man does not get medical facilities.

He said he will not let anybody waste billions of rupees provided for the medical facilities. He said hospitals are established to provide medical treatment to the public and the people who cannot make hospital medical facilities should go to home.

He said it was his mission to provide more and more facilities at the hospitals and he has taken the responsibility to provide the modern medical facilities to the people at their doorsteps. He said he will not sit idle until he provides the best medical facilities to the people.

He said he will continue his war to replace the moth-eaten system and he will ensure the provision of the best medical facilities to the people at any cost.

Shahbaz Sharif expressed his displeasure for not installing UPS for the x-ray machine and said non-installation of the UPS is humiliation of patients and this is sheer injustice that trained staff is not provided to operate CT scan machine.

He said had there been system of check and balance in place there would not have been such pathetic situation. He said junior staff has been appointed to operate CT scan machine that is not acceptable. He said the company which provides CT scan machine should also be responsible to run it.

He said the CT scan is made by Toshiba company and money invested belongs to the poor people but the staff who operate this machine is untrained that is inhuman. He also sought the agreement of the CT scan machine.

The chief minister also expressed his anger when he was informed by patients that they have paid money for the medicines. He ordered the authorities to provide free medical treatment to the patients. He said the provision of the best medical facilities is the top priority of the government and for this purpose billions of rupees have been provided and the people should get benefit of this huge budget earmarked for the medical treatment of the poor people.

Later, Shehbaz Sharif visited the children’s hospital and the Institute of the Child Health Multan and inspected the new under-construction building of the hospital. He expressed his concerning over the substandard ceiling of roof.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Shehbaz Sharif said machinery worth billions of rupees has been bought for the hospital but this is regrettable that this machinery is not installed so far. He said the public should get benefit from the machinery worth billions of rupees. He said a sum of Rs2 billion is being spent for the expansion of the children’s hospital and 150 beds will be added under this expansion plan.

Talking to the media on the occasion, he said public service and the provision of the best medical facilities is his top priority and every possible resource is being utilized for this purpose. He said the kidney center will be made effective soon and the expansion of the children’s hospital will also be completed soon.

He said Nishtar Medical College has already been given the status of the university and educational facilities there will be further improved. He said land for the expansion of Nishtar Hospital has been purchased and funds will be earmarked in the budget.

In reply to a question about privatization of public hospital, he said the impression of the privatization of public hospitals is totally wrong, administrative affairs of some of hospitals are being given to the NGOs which get funds from the government and these NGOs will operate the hospital in a better way.

He said several health projects have been started in the South Punjab which included up-gradation of DHQ Dera Ghazi Khan, Govt. Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital’s expansion and the construction of the medical complex and mega hospital in Sahiwal. He said administrative affairs of Govt. Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital has been handed over to a non-government organization Indus Trust which is provided funds by the government and this institute is running the hospital in an exemplary manner.

He said our objective is to provide medical treatment to the people and every positive step is being taken for this purpose. He said liver transplant, bypass operation of children and facilities of bone marrow will be available to the people of South Punjab when children’s hospital will be functional after expansion.

He said the Multan metro bus service is the great gift of the Punjab government to the people of the South Punjab and thousands of the people benefit from it daily. He said the Multan metro bus service has provided the best, fast and affordable transport facilities to the people. Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, the chief secretary and senior officials of the Health Department were also present on the occasion.
