Pakistan Boxing Council calls off UBO vacant bantamweight title bout

Lahore : The Universal Boxing Organisation’s vacant international super bantamweight title bout between challenger Nadir Baloch, Pakistan Boxing Council national champion, and Juma Fundi of Tanzania has been called off for a time being in respect of the victims of Lahore, Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Sawan Sharif and other bomb blast victims.

The first ever international pro fight for UBQ vacant super bantamweight title was to be held on February 25 in Quetta at Ayub Stadium

A recent wave of terrorism have left scores of people dead and injured in all the four provinces that left the entire nation wet-eyed.

PBC President Ifraz Khan informed that now the bout would most likely be organised in the last week of March. He informed that the new dates will be finalised by the council meeting in consultation the Quetta city government and security officials.

Ifraz said: “We cannot celebrate successful organisation of such events and wins in such fights when our brother and sisters are being killed cold-bloodedly. We pray for all those who sacrificed their lives and pray to Allah Almighty for courage for the bereaved families.”
