Ayaz Sadiq invites the students of Kinnaird College University to visit the Parliament

Lahore : Speaker National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, held an interactive session with the students at the Kinnaird College University Lahore.

A small seminar was held to show solidarity with the Kashmiris which was named “We stand with the Kashmiris” where Mr. Sadiq was invited to enlighten the students about the parliamentary affairs and the proceedings of the Parliament.

The Speaker gave the students a detailed lecture on the rules and regulations of Parliament and the duties and responsibilities of the Speaker alongwith other members of the Lower House. He appreciated the role of women in the Parliament and stated that almost 50% of the affairs have women’s participation. He discussed in detail about the procedure of election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker.

He invited the students of Kinnaird College University to visit the Parliament and to watch the proceedings and also offered them internship. He informed that already 50 internees from various educational institutions of Pakistan are doing their internship in the Parliament, an activity which he started.

Ayaz Sadiq briefed the students about the changes that were brought in the Parliament during his tenure as Speaker. He said that as the Speaker has a responsibility to remain unbiased during the proceedings, he is often criticized by his party members for giving extra time to the Opposition.

He told the students that the official proceedings should have harmony among the members, that’s why Speaker’s role is so crucial. Further he told that his efforts have borne fruits of making the Parliament working green, and now the energy generated for the National Assembly will be produced through solar energy. This project has borne fruition with the help of Chinese.

Later there was an interactive question answer session between the students and the Speaker where the students asked quite pertinent questions regarding the attendance of the members and also on the Kashmir committee.
