PPP stage protest in Lahore against firing on Shokat Basra

Lahore : Pakistan Peoples Party has staged protest outside Lahore Press Club against firing on former MPA Shokat Basra in Bahawalnagar. Around 18 people of PPP participated in the protest along with placards , they shouted slogans against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to register their protest.

On seeing the live vans of the TV Channels ,the Jiyaleys immediately arranged some old tyres and burnt them in the middle of the road to get some live coverage. Blocking road badly hit the traffic flow and hundreds of people detained in their vehicles for half an hour till the protest ended.

Some armed personnel had attacked Shokat Basra in Bahawalnagar today,in which 2 people died including the secretary of Shokat Basra and two injured.

Punjab Government has taken notice of the incident and immediate arrest of the accused has been ordered by the CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Meanwhile ; PPP MPA Faiza Malik has submitted a call attention in the Punjab Assembly,seeking the event details and police action in this regard.

A joint meeting of the opposition parties also held at Punjab Assembly . The meeting was chaired by the opposition leader Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed. All the opposition members condemned the deadly attack on Shokat Basra and demanded earliest arrest of the accused.
