Hameeda Waheed women stalls at Shadman Sunday Bazar

The Punjab Minister for Women Development Department (WDD), Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that progress and prosperity of women is necessary for the development of a country.

She was talking to the media on the occasion of inauguration of women stalls, organized jointly by Women Development Department, City District Government Lahore and Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry at Shadman, here today.

President of Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Shazia Suleman, Ex-President, Dr Shehla Javed Akram Director WDD Tahir Ali and other notables were also present on the occasion. She said that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Government of Punjab has announced various women packages and taken number of steps for protection and socio-economic empowerment of women throughout the province. “A lot has been achieved but we have to do more for our women who comprise 52% of our national population”, added the minister.

She said that any women shopkeeper/vendor can submit an application to concerned authority for the allotment of stalls throughout the province. She said that government is encouraging more and more economic activities for the development of the country. She said that separate stalls for women will also be reserved in Model Bazaars across the province. Women are being empowered through various initiatives for achieving self reliance besides contributing to the process of economic empowerment, concluded the Minister.

Earlier, the Minster inaugurated women stalls along with members of Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry. A large number of women were also present on the occasion. Women shopkeepers highly appreciated the step taken by the government of the Punjab for their welfare and economic uplift. Later, she took round of the stalls and expressed her satisfaction for achieving another milestone.
