Trophy and Logo of 1st Pakistan Women Hockey League were unveiled by the Punjab Sports Minister, Jahangir Khanzada in a well attended ceremony at the Punjab Sports Board’s multi purpose hall.
Players and officials of all the five competing sides, Lahore Lions, Islamabad Shaheens, Peshawar Deers, Karachi Dolphins and Quetta Panthers were present.
The minister also presented impressive team shirts to the respective captains.
In his address, Jahangir Khanzada appreciated this venture of Punjab Women Hockey Association, “When I came to know about the idea of the women hockey league, I directed Sports Board Punjab to extend all the support. It is very heartening to see girls from all parts of Pakistan assembled here to play hockey. Punjab government will continue to patronise women sports especially hockey.”
The league would run from February 3-8. All the matches will be played at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore with two fixtures scheduled every day.
