Lahore : Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has constituted an inquiry Committee to look into the matter of death of Mst Zohra Bibi which will give their report on Friday 13th January 2017.
The patient named Zohra Bibi was presented in Arif Memorial Hospital Lahore an attached teaching hospital of Rashid Latif Medical College Lahore on 1st January 2017, suffering from kidney disease, she was not provided with a bed in the hospital nor she was provided with any treatment due to which the patient went to Jinnah Hospital Lahore but she died on 2nd January.
The Punjab Government’s Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department took serious notice of the incident and has requested PM&DC to inquire about the case and directed to take strict action against such hospitals and private medical dental colleges who are not offering 50% free treatment to the poor as all the private hospitals are bound by PM&DC regulations to offer free beds and treatment.
The Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has also asked PM&DC to take punitive action particularly against Arif Memorial teaching Hospital Lahore and Rashid Latif Medical College Lahore for not providing treatment to the poor patients as per PM&DC Regulations.
While talking, the President PM&DC Prof. Dr. Shabir Lehri ,He said that PM&DC has written letter to the above mentioned teaching hospital and medical college to explain their position. He also added that an inquiry Committee consisting of three very professional and senior professors has been constituted comprising of Prof. Dr. Eice Muhammad, Prof. Dr. Mussadiq Khan and Prof. Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman.
He added that it is highly objectionable that the medical and dental colleges are not providing free treatments to the poor and PM&DC will not spare any institution who will not follow the PM&DC rules.
